Stratum

Produced during my residency at the Deering Estate in Miami, Florida, this body of work represents a turning point in my practice, moving from photo-encaustics to fully realized encaustic painting. The pieces draw inspiration from the geological and hydrological landscape of South Florida, where I am drawn to the textures of rock, soil, and water, and by the stories that emerge through their interaction. I find compelling the parallels between geological strata with the encaustic layering process.
